The Ice has Melted

Remember how I said I felt as if I were plowing through a wall of ice (or maybe I didn't say that, I'm not sure)? Well, I am happy to report that the ice is melting! I have typed out about 2,000 words within the last two hours. Woohoo! I'm at 5,160 now, so I have nine days to type around 15,000 words.

I've got this.

That's all I have to say at the moment. I must return to my novel! :D

End of the Eighth Day

Day eight has come to a close, and I have begun to see some hope for my word count. Week two is going to be filled with speed-writing in an attempt to make up for the lack of words in week one, and all the while I'm trying to maintain quality as well as quantity. I am currently at 2,512 words, which isn't good AT ALL, but I'm getting there.
...Eventually.

Also, I wrote myself into a ditch. A ditch that I saw coming for miles but didn't actually realize how deep it was until I fell in.
Okay, to be honest it wasn't all that deep, but it felt like it. I had to write this extremely awkward scene in which two of my main characters meet for the first time. Why, you may ask, is it awkward? Well, one of the characters can't talk and the other is not exactly good with people (plus he didn't know that the other couldn't speak). That led to quite an issue. On top of that, they were in the middle of a rainstorm, standing out on the sidewalk. So here's what I finally decided on:

~*~

The two stood there for a moment, both waiting for the other to speak first. Rale decided it would be best to greet him, maybe even introduce himself.
"You're going to get mugged again if you just stand there," Rale said bluntly, speaking loudly to be heard over the storm. The other teen seemed to be slightly taken aback, and then he straightened his posture so he no longer leaned against the building. Rale rubbed the back of his neck nervously and waited for a response.

~*~

Heh. I laughed a bit at that. Rale is an interesting character... I always have fun writing about him. :)
I know it needs quite a bit of work still, though I think that'll do for now.

End of an Eternity (At least, that's what it feels like to me...)

Well, it seemed like an eternity. An eternity of writer's block, in which I could not seem to write ANYTHING.
The good news? I think I finally managed to carve a path through that stubborn writer's block. I'm now at 2,140 words. I know that isn't very good considering how much time has passed, but I was just stuck. Though now I'm feeling motivated again, which means more words!!! Woohoo!
Now, here's that piece of my novel I promised in the last post:

~*~

The man made an attempt to punch Brycen, but the teen managed to dodge quicker than any Earth Dragon should have been able to. Unfortunately, the rain was still pouring rather hard, and he missed the sound of feet on pavement, of a fist swinging through the air, and even of something coming in harsh contact with his skull. He slipped on the slick ground beneath him and fell to the ground, catching himself on his hands and knees. He knew that he could take them down almost instantly if he needed to, but his moral compass pointed to far in the other direction for him to even consider that as an option. Surely if they knew how strong he really was, they wouldn't have attacked him in the first place. It wasn't wise to mess with the brute force of an Earth Dragon.

~*~

Ok, I know that it still needs a lot of editing. I said "him," "his" and "he" constantly, not to mention the fact that it's a bit choppy and just... I don't know, but it feels like it's lacking something. I also know that this doesn't make much sense out of context, though it does give you a bit of insight into what this character is like. Or at least I hope it does. Either way, I hope you liked it...?

Well, good luck, my fellow novelists!! :D

Day 6-- I'm Doomed

Guys, I'm so behind its not even funny. Its day 6 of Camp NaNoWriMo, so I should be at about 6,000 words, right? Well, I'm at 1,200 something-or-other. I have had such a lack of inspiration. I mean, I've planned out what needs to happen, but I have been so un-motivated that it just hasn't gotten written. That's all I have to say for now.

P.S. Next time I post, I'll add a little piece of what I've written so far.

Countdown 'til Crazy Camp!

7 Days until Camp NaNoWriMo! I'm still plotting (and panicking) about my new novel. This time, I'm not expecting to reach my goal-- I'm just going to work on the quality of it this time, because I've got most of the plot worked out. I'm super excited for this! If anyone wants to join me in this crazy plotting and brainstorming, feel free to send me a message-- I'm TheDragonTamer on the Camp NaNo site.

On a side note, the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game came out today! I went to pick up my copy, and boy, do I have a LOT to say about this game. So, I am creating a new page on this blog where I am going to rant about all of the things I notice about this game, just find funny, or feel like I need to make up a story or something about... I'm calling the page "The Epic Adventures of Balthazar and Ganon" because I'm an Axew named Balthazar... and my partner is a Tepig named Ganon. XD I'll just refer to it as "EAoBG" for short. I'll update it whenever I progress in the game... or just feel the need to update. I hope you all enjoy my pathetic attempts at humor while I go on and on about this game... or you can just pretend the page isn't even there. Your call.

Crazy Cramming and New Novels

Clearly, I like alliteration.
Does it bug you guys? Well, I apologize, but whatever.

Anyways... I have an idea. I'm going to do these posts in sections from now on, so if you're bored of reading about anime or video games, you can skip to the section you want to read. Sound good? Ok.

Fan Fiction Updates.

So... I haven't updated my Danny Phantom fanfiction in almost two weeks.... I'm a terrible person -.-"

But on the bright side, I've completed one and nearly completed a second Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure fanfictions. I love that game soooo much... so of course I had to write about it once I beat it. One is about Fondue (sort of) and the other is a Charlie x Raphael story (a friend of mine requested that I write it XD).

Fandom Alert!

I've done a bunch since my last post. Let's see...

Video games:
-I beat Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. The ending was fantastic; I loved it. Great game, great puzzles, I really reccomend it.
-I started Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. I'm not very far, but I love it so far. This series is addicting...
-I bought Harvest Moon: A New Beginning. I love it so much. It cracks me up how in Tale of Two Towns, all of the bachelors are super nice and stuff, and then in A New Beginning some of them can be total jerks. XD    ....Seriously though, I find it really funny how some of them act.
Anime:
-I started watching Black Butler, and I've gotta say, I love it so far. Grell creeps me out a bit though. And then there's Sebastian (did I spell that right?), who's just a total ninja and kicks but using silverware.
-I've watched a few episodes of Soul Eater as well... Death the kid cracks me up. He's totally crazy about everything being symmetrical, and I think it's absolutely hilarious.

Random Writing...

Who else is doing Camp NaNoWriMo??? I sure am!! I'm going for 30,000 or 35,000 words... not sure yet. During November I did 25,000 words, so I'm going to try to challenge myself a bit more. If you're doing it as well, feel free to send me a message (if that's possible on this site... idk) or leave a comment or something. The more writing buddies the better, right? :P
I'm super psyched, because I actually have a decent plot and some pretty well-developed characters ready to go. I can't wait for April so I can actually start writing it...

Just... Life.

Oh, and the whole "cramming" thing in the title? Yeah.... midterms. I have a biology midterm on Friday and I'm a bit nervous.... yet I'm still procrastinating. So I'll probably end up cramming tommorrow night. Ugh.
And then there's spanish class. My new favorite spanish word is "videojuegos," because it means "video games." Heheh... anyways.

Uhhh.... I think that's all I have to say for now.
Signing off once again,

P.S. I like trains.

...Anyone get the reference?? No? Ok. XD

Ace Attorneys and Awesome Albums

So... my birthday was sometime this month! Whoo! I'm not telling you when or how old I am though, you internet stalkers -.-"
Anyways, I went down to Best Buy yesterday, and I found a copy of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for Nintendo DS. For only $14! And, since I constantly quote the darn game but have never actually played it.... I decided to buy it. And I've gotta say, I love it. I'm on chapter 3. Edgeworth irks me. He's awesome and all, but he irks me. Plain and simple. I mean, really, can I just get through one case without nearly tearing my hair out because he objects when I'm about to win? Honestly...

Anyways... on to my second topic. I got an iTunes gift card, so of course I went and bought some video game and TV show music. I bought the opening themes (and some other songs) from the Merlin, Sherlock, and Doctor Who: Season 5 albums. And then I got the Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure: Volume One album. I'm in love with the game's music, and I definately reccomend it. My favorite has to be "Enter Raphael" or "The Theme of Phantom R" or a bunch of other ones that I wont even bother listing because this post is so long already. Needless to say, I love music from games/TV shows. Those albums and songs are all wonderful, go check them out if you want. I'm sure they're on YouTube... :)

If there are any Rhythm Thief fans out there, check this video out. It's amazing. I love Random Encounters videos.

That's mainly what I wanted to talk about... but I think I have more to say. Here it goes.

And are there any Legend of Zelda fans out there? Are you guys psyched for Windwaker for Wii U? I'm not the biggest LoZ fan, but I've gotta say, I'm pretty excited.

Last time I posted, I had just beaten Drayden on Pokemon White 2. I got to the Elite Four, nearly beat them on my first try, and then got slaughtered by Iris's Haxorus. End of story.

Now to actually talk about writing XD
Um, yeah, I need to update my Danny Phantom story. Last time I left it Clockwork was saved by Cujo and... yeah. Muahahahaha... I have plans >:)
If anyone wants to read my fanfictions, go click that link on the side of the page. See it? Yeah, that one. Right there. Riiighht there. *Points dramatically to link*
Oh, and any Danny Phantom fans out there? You'll get a kick out of this. So, for my birthday, one of my friends got me a box of Fruitloops with a picture of Vlad on it. Isn't that great? XD

Has anyone else ever done a "shuffle challenge?" (I think that's what they're called.) You know, where you just put your MP3 Player on shuffle and write for the duration of the song? Well, it's super fun. I recomend doing it, especially if you're writing an original story and are trying to develop your characters. It helps a lot. I know, I know, shuffle challenges are typically used for fanfiction. But is there any rule that they can't be used for original stories? No.
Oh, and here's something I reccomend. It's this app (if you've got a smartphone or iPad or whatever) called "A Novel Idea." It's great for organizing ideas, locations, characters, and scenes from your novel. I mean, you could just write it all down on paper, but if you're like me and can't keep things organized, then the app is great.

Did anyone survive through that rant or did you just leave sometime in the middle? Well, anyways... here's to the survivors! (If there are any, considering I still don't have any followers -.-")
Signing off,
~Sydney J. :)

P.S. I apologize for my spelling errors, I know they're in there somewhere...
